One thing I’ve wanted to do for a very long time is write for pleasure. Over the years I’ve written numerous reports, masterplans, press releases and other rather dry work-y stuff. What I really want to do now I’ve retired is to write purely for my own pleasure. I’ve been lucky enough to have some good writing mentors and buddies – more of this in a future blog. This has spurred me on, and I’m now honing my writing skills in creative non-fiction.
Creative non-fiction is a pretty broad genre, taking in memoir, nature, travel, my family history and pretty much everything that interests me – and hopefully you too! I hope to be able to share some of this in my blogs as I write. In the meantime, I’m drafting up some early pieces, and doing lots of reading.
Here are some of the books that have given me a bit of focus and direction, tried, tested and recommended by other (more successful) writers than me.
